Thursday 5th December 2013 – 5 12 13 – is a Pythagoras Day.
A Pythagorean triple is a set of 3 integers (whole numbers) a, b & c such that:
a2 + b2 = c2
Pythagorean triples can be used to create right angled triangles, like the one above. You can’t just use any three integers to make a right angled triangle (if you don’t believe me try it: can you draw a right angled triangle with sides 5cm, 8cm & 10cm long), the three sides must be a Pythagorean Triple.
And the next Pythagoras day wont be along for a while – 15th August 2012 (15 8 27) to be precise.
